Assignment Task: NEWS REPORT FOR JAWS
For this assignment, you must compose a news report based on a scene from Stephen Spielberg's blockbuster movie Jaws. 1n the film, a great white shark terrorizes the beaches of the ?ctional town of Amity Island. To make matters worse, the town is in the midst of its july 4th celebrations, which means vacationers from all around have ?ocked to the beaches for some fun in the sun.
In the film, the mysterious death of a young woman raises suspicions of a shark attack, but Chief Brody's attempts to close the beach out of an abundance of caution go unheeded by the town mayor who doesn't want to scare away Visitors for the upcoming July 4th weekend. The next day, June 29th, tragedy strikes again as a young boy named Alex Kintner is killed, except this time there are numerous witnesses.
Your task is to compose a news report based on information seen and heard in the film in the scene depicting the attack on Alex Kintner. Any other necessary information can he invented by you or made-up, so long as it's plausible. Remember to include all of the required parts, such as a headline, byline, lead, interviews, etc. Also, be sure to incorporate each step of the writing process {e.g. prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and presenting). For length, aim for something in the 200-300 word range. (As always, when in doubt, it's usually better to go over the word count by a bit than to fall short.)
