Read the book, "banana: the fate of the fruit that changed the world"
For your essay:
i. Describe how the author is trying to make the reader interested enough in their plant to want to read an entire book about it. In other words, what is the hook? (Imagine convincing a book publisher that this plant HAS to be written about and will sell loads of books!!)
ii. How has the author planned to structure their book? (Ex. chronologically, with a frame story, with a personal story of exploration weaved throughout, etc.)
iii. Does the structure seem effective for the author's aims? Do you think it will potentially be interesting for an entire book? Why or why not?
iv. Is the book's strategy one you might consider to engage your class about your plant or do you have other ideas for how to "hook" your classmates into engaging with your lesson?
