Assignment task: My research question is ?does race of the domestic violence victim have an influence on the level of barriers and challenges?they face??The methodological approach I chose was qualitative because interviews, surveys, or even data can be collected in various ways.?The level method of measurement and data collection that best fits my research question and methodological approach would be nominal measurement. "It involves the use of a measurement scheme that simply sorts cases into exhaustive and mutually exclusive value categories of a variable" (Yegidis, 2018). When doing surveys or interviews I could use nominal measurement to label variables without any quantitative value. Being as though my research question talks about race, I could measure variables such as race, ethnicity, mental states and marital status. This data can be collect by oral histories. "Oral histories are firsthand accounts, which would seem to be, on the surface, trustworthy data sources. Oral histories are written, audio, and/or video recordings of people discussing and experience or life event from their own perspectives"(Yegidis, 2018). This form of data collection would be useful when doing interviews and surveys for my focused area of participants, to receive information on the type of services received and other useful information pertaining to my research question.
