Discussion Post: Faith Farmer
Faith Farmer enters into an oral agreement with Lisa Landowner whereby Faith would rent Lisa's farm in Indiana for 12 months. Faith and Lisa discuss what the monthly rent will be and that Faith will arrive in three months and Lisa agrees to have the house ready for Faith. Faith spends the next three months researching and purchasing farming supplies and hires an experienced agricultural manager to help her run the farm, However, when Faith shows up at the farm, the house is shuttered and locked and Lisa refuses to give Faith the keys or accept her check for the first month's rent. Lisa also refuses to allow Faith to cultivate the land for farming. Do you think Faith can sue Lisa and have the agreement enforced? Why or why not?
