Distinguish business level strategy-corporate level strategy

Problem: How do i respond to this?

Difference between a business level strategy and a corporate level strategy is that business level strategy focuses on a particular business unit and ensures that each department is working towards the same goal. Corporate level strategy defines the direction the business wants to take. The both strategies are essential in strategic planning and are connected in achieving organizational objectives. Advent Health is a local hospital that I work for and the mission is to provide whole person health. The business plan is focused on providing patient care that is centered around that philosophy to provide whole person care, by strengthening the mind, lifting the spirits and healing the body. This is how Advent Health maintains competitive advantage and generates revenue and market leadership. The successful business level strategy contributes to corporate level strategy because profitability and revenue growth can be used to achieve market expansion such as acquiring smaller regional hospitals and converting them to Advent Health, opening new free standing ED, building additional campuses etc. While business level strategy focuses on competitiveness and profitability of the business the corporate level strategy focuses on the direction the organization will take in the long run and the possibilities of the profitability in the future.
