This study seeks to understand in what ways leaders of K-12 public schools with reputations for strong educational technology programs use enGauge data to inform policy and practice, and to further understand what K-12 public school contextual leadership and factors practices support educational technology use. This study will be guided by the subsequent questions:

What are the characteristics of leadership and systems in identified K-12 public schools with reputations for strong technology use? Specifically,

(1) In what ways do leaders in these identified schools use enGauge data to inform technology policy and practice?

(2) What leadership practices and contextual factors are evident in these identified schools that support strong educational technology programs?

By examining the how leaders use enGauge data within K-12 educational technology programs, and identifying what contextual factors and leadership practices support educational technology use, I propose to develop a richer and more complete understanding of strong K-12 educational technology programs. Although the results of this study will not be generalizable across all school districts, this study will identify educational technology program best practices and major attributes that are data driven, research informed, connected to high-quality programs and generate theory relevant to local, state, and national application.

This research study may be a multi-case design using cross-case analysis. How leaders use and interpret data to prepare objectives and goals, make meaning from local contextual environments, and apply leadership skills, will inform the project's final report.
