Discussion about zones of optimal functioning

Problem:

Please use something from this resosurce in the paragraph "Zones of Optimal Functioning Another reason for the shortage of evidence is that individuals have different optimal levels of arousal. In other words, the same general curve does not apply to everyone. The zone of optimal functioning hypothesis in sports psychology postulates individual inverted-U curves, each with a zone of optimal arousal where an athlete performs best (Hanin, 1989). In athletics, arousal involves cognitive anxiety , somatic (body) anxiety, but also positive emotion intensities that is unique to each athlete. For instance, Medeiros Filho and co-researchers (2008) measured ratings of arousal, heart rate, and pleasure prior to a competition of three archers. These variables were used to calculate each archer's zone of optimal functioning. The archers differed from each other in their optimal zones. The zones also differed for various target distances. Nevertheless, shooting performance was better when the archers were in their zone of optimal functioning. Do individuals feel their best in the zone of optimal (best) arousal? And, when they feel their best, do they perform their best? So, when do people feel their best? To find out, Evans and co-researchers (2017) asked students when they felt their best? "Do you usually FEEL AT YOUR BEST at these times" over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. to 4 a.m.? Yes!! yes?? no! These replies were scored 100, 75, 50, 25, and 0, respectively. Need Assignment Help?
