STUDENT 1
Both social and human capital can play a role in providing resources and support to those who have been abused. Social capital refers to the networks of relationships and connections that an individual has, and can include things like family, friends, and community support systems. Human capital refers to the knowledge, skills, and abilities that an individual possesses.
Research suggests that social capital may have a greater influence over resources accessible to the abused. Studies have found that social support from family and friends can have a positive impact on mental health outcomes for those who have experienced abuse. Additionally, community-based resources and organizations, such as shelters and support groups, can provide practical assistance, such as housing and legal aid, that can be crucial for leaving an abusive situation.

Anyone could become a victim of abuse. Abuse can affect children, adults, and even the elderly. Physical abuse is the most common form of abuse. However, abuse can come in many forms, such as sexual, emotional, mental, and even financial abuse. The type of abuse may vary, but one common thing among all abused is that they often isolate themselves from others. Self-isolation can be caused by embarrassment, guilt, shame, or fear. When individual self-isolates, they may not receive the assistance they need. Maslow's hierarchy of needs shows why social capital significantly influences resources accessible to the abused. Social capital measures personal relationships in an individual's life (Burkholder & Nash, 2013). Maslow mentions safety needs as level two and love and belonging as level three. An abused person must experience safety, love, and a sense of belonging to become a healthy part of society. A study on
