Short Story "Sunny's Blues" by author James Baldwin.
My goal is not simply to compare the two characters but to understand why the characters are SIGNIFICANT, and their relationship/similarity/difference is SIGNIFICANT. Ask yourself: SO WHAT? Why is this interesting? Can each character tell us something about the world, society, etc.? Can you tell me what these two characters reveal about each other that is interesting and relevant?

As an introduction to Sonny's brother, begin with an analysis of his character. Describe who he is, what he does, how he feels, and how he acts.
Could you describe how Sonny's brother handles his brother and the situations that arise throughout the story? What is his reaction to what his brother does? Why does he feel the way he does about his brothers' interests? Discuss the negative aspects of this character.
Why did we choose these two characters? What do they have in common? In their stories, how do they create a bond between themselves?
