Discussion about fit for person-centered therapy

Question:

Miss Piggy would be a great fit for person-centered therapy. She's outwardly confident and ambitious, but she's also highly sensitive to criticism and rejection, and she responds dramatically when she doesn't get the attention she seeks from Kermit. Her presentation suggests that her self-worth is dependent on the external validation she receives from her performances in both her professional and personal life.

A person-centered therapist would not challenge Miss Piggy's dramatic behaviors, and instead would explore the incongruence between her confident persona and her more vulnerable fear of not being accepted and loved. The primary therapeutic intervention would be the therapist-client relationship, which would offer genuineness, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. The goal would be to allow Miss Piggy to experience a relationship where she's accepted regardless of how she performs, which would help her develop more congruence and less reliance on external validation for her sense of worth.

My question is to reply a post to the student. Need Assignment Help?
