By "myth," I do not mean something that is false. I mean a story, image, or narrative that is ontologically active: one that shapes how people think, act, love, pursue success, face failure, or understand what counts as "right" action.
Identify one American myth and describe it clearly. Then explain what it does. What values does it promote? What behaviors does it encourage or discourage?
