Write a response to my classmate - An intervention framework I may choose to guide the facilitation of the group for discussing the implementation of a Family Justice Center is participatory change. I think this may be the best approach because it has active involvement of the community members, and because of this involvement, it is more likely that individuals will feel responsible. Active involvement and individual responsibility when it comes to the community are very important, but when working on implementing much-needed services into the community, such as FJC, having those traits within the community can make a big change. A way to evaluate other voices is through the use of surveys, small group discussions, or focus groups. Using surveys can help identify who wants to hear or speak about certain services included in FJC. For example, maybe someone who just got out of a relationship where there was domestic violence wants to attend groups tailored to a service provided for intimate partner violence. This can help divide major services included for individuals in the community. Participatory change intervention allows a community to address its power imbalances and shift power dynamics. Although I may be facilitating and leading groups or discussions, letting individuals in the community voice their opinions and share their stories makes them feel more in charge, hence the increased sense of ownership.
