Discuss - world full of different stimuli teasing our senses

Discussion Topic

Perception does begin with our senses, but ultimately we need to be able to interpret these senses.

The lost of our abilities to see, hear, touch has shown that our brain is very malleable and is able to compensate for such deficit.

However we live in a world full of different stimuli teasing our senses. Take for example, my morning encounter with coffee. I wake up in the morning to the smell of freshly brewed coffee. I can see the fresh pot sitting on my kitchen counter and hear it percolating. As I pour myself a cup, I feel the warmth of the coffee engulfing my hands and as I take the first sip, that taste wakes me up.

However, what happens if I lose all my perception except for touch?

Class, can I be certain that the warm sensation I'm feeling in my hands is from a cup of coffee, or is it simply a cup of hot water? What do you think? Need Assignment Help?

Make sure to incorporate vocabularies, concepts, etc. from the module and/or textbook.
