A recent news article suggested that absentee landlords may be one source of soil erosion problems. (Assume for the purposes of this problem that absentee landlords rent the land to the farmer for a fixed annual price.) Use your knowledge of property rights to discuss whether or not soil erosion could be expected to be a more serious problem with absentee landlords.
