Homework: Research Topic and Proposal Essay
Overview
In this homework, you will propose the research topic pertinent to US History from Reconstruction (1865) to the present you would like to investigate this term in a brief, 1 to 2 page (300 to 500 word) essay.
Instructions
The purpose of this homework is to decide what you want to write about and to receive guidance on how to focus your topic and make it something that you are able to examine in depth in an argumentative, historical research paper of 5 to 7 pages (1250 to 1750 words) in length.
a) Review the "How to Study History" in the eText FIRST.
b) Then in proper essay format, begin by describing your topic in a sentence or two and how it relates to US History from Reconstruction to the present.
c) Discuss what sources you think you might find and where (200 - 400 words).
d) Describe what argument or arguments you think you might be able to make about this topic.
e) Finally, describe any difficulties you have encountered or anticipate encountering with this project.
Format your homework according to the give formatting requirements:
• The answer must be using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, typed, with one-inch margins on all sides.
• The response also includes a cover page containing the student's name, the title of the homework, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
• Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
