Discuss virginia woolf use of stream-of-consciousness

Problem 1: Choose a story from week 5 and discuss how it represents literary Modernism. How are the ideas of Modernism illustrated in the story? (Make sure to read the "Modernism" document and watch the video "Literary Modernism" for your discussion; both can be found in the Online Learning Resources for this week).

Problem 2: Discuss Virginia Woolf's use of stream-of-consciousness in the story "Kew Gardens". How does this Modernist technique add to the story- or does it, in your opinion? Explain.

Problem 3: James Joyce is famous for his use of literary epiphany- moments in which a character comes to a sudden or intense realization about themselves or the world in which they live. Using either of the Joyce stories, explain where the 'epiphany' most likely occurs in your chosen story, and what you think the character realizes or learns in that moment, based on textual evidence and interpretation.

Problem 4: Pick 2 characters from any two stories from this week and discuss meaningful similarities and differences.
