Problem:
Discuss the "climate" (mood of the people) of the time during pre and post American Revolution and how did this influence the creation of the Great Compromise or Connecticut Compromise? How did these Compromises combine to create our Constitution? Please cite examples from significant leaders of the time and why you believe "liberty" was so important to them based on their lives before and after the war? Do you think this war based on "ideology" is perhaps the birth of the responsibility America has set for themselves; in regard to assisting other nations who strive to strengthen their own ideologies today? Many believe that the United States takes on too many ideological responsibilities in a modern world; but is that not our duty based on the "Founders" expectation of a true nation that strives to preserve "liberty?" (We will discuss in the future how this concept brought us into many world conflicts such as WWII etc.) Washington himself took assistance from the French to win the revolution; but was wary of international relationships and obligations. Which viewpoint from this time period should be adopted to strengthen our present government?
