How's it going? My name is Samuel Groeschl and the disease that I have chosen to briefly talk about and discuss is gastritis. Mayo Clinic describes gastritis as inflammation of the stomach lining which can be caused by multiple factors such as stress, injury, infection, excessive alcohol consumption, use of aspirin and other NSAIDs and disorders in the immune system. According to Cleveland Clinic, common symptoms can be abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, discomfort, and feelings of fullness or burning in the stomach. So, according to Mayo Clinic and medical news today, there are three organs that are affected by gastritis, which are the esophagus, the stomach, and the douadum. Since gastritis causes a burning sensation in the chest behind the sternum, the esophagus is affected when the stomach acid travels back up into the throat, irritating and inflaming the esophageal tissue and also burning esophageal mucosa. Gastritis also can affect the stomach by producing excessive amounts of stomach acid causing inflammation, discomfort, nausea, and vomiting. When there is this excessive amount of stomach acid, this will also irritate the douadinum and possibly cause douadinitis. This creates digestive issues and affects nutrient absorption within the dauadum. According to very well health and medical news today, treatment of this disease can include taking certain medications to reduce stomach acid as well as antibiotics. Also, ceasing to take NSAIDs or alcohol is crucial for recovery. Dietary adjustments, managing stress, and also staying well hydrated is important toward managing this disease. Taking also herbal supplements and natural remedies may help manage gastritis by reducing inflammation and protecting the stomach lining while also fighting bad bacteria. Lastly, I believe that science equips humans to participate in God's redemptive work by giving us the natural resources that enable the development of materials, instruments, and technology to help and benefit those in need. Also, by studying how the human body functions, we can understand how to take care of God's own creation and self-image.
