Probation is defined as the release of an offender from detention. subject to a period of good behavior under supervision. Probation is the leading case disposition for criminal offenses.
Probation is a major part of the Correctional System. Discuss the pros and cons of the probation system including how it can be improved in your opinion. Identify qualities that you believe characterize an effective Probation Officer. If you were a probation officer, what would be a high priority in the manner you worked with those you were responsible for overseeing? Why has probation proved to be a successful alternative to incarceration?
