Discuss the presence of a corn specific gene

Problem

In Turkey, genetically modified (GM) products can legally be imported in animal feed, but not in food for human consumption. Scientists isolated DNA from 33 different corn containing animal feeds and human food products to test for the presence of GM corn. Using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification, scientists tested the samples for the presence of a foreign promoter sequence used to drive the expression of transgenes in GM corn. In addition to testing for the presence of the transgenic promotor sequence, PCR was also used to detect the presence of a corn specific gene.
