Homework: Introductory Speech Outline
Overview
Strong oral communication skills will be valuable to you throughout your academic journey. They are in high demand by many employers. Creating an outline is critical to your success in crafting an effective speech.
For this homework, you will create an outline. The speech based on your outline is due next week.
Instructions
I. Select either Topic A or Topic B for your introductory speech.
i. Topic A: Elevator Pitch. Deliver an elevator pitch that describes your professional background and experience for a potential employer during a job interview.
ii. Topic B: Dream Career. Discuss your dream career.
II. Create an outline or speaking notes in Microsoft Word.
i. Download the Sample Outline [DOCX], which provides guidance for the structure of an outline.
ii. Focus your speech on 2-3 main points so you'll stay within the 2-minute time limit.
III. Submit the completed outline in a Microsoft Word document.
Requirements
Your homework will be according to the following criteria:
i. The outline is complete and on topic.
ii. The outline provides solid flow for the speech.
iii. The outline is clear and free from spelling and grammar issues.
Format your homework according to the following formatting requirements:
i) The answer should be typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.
ii) The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
iii) Also include a reference page. The Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
