Assignment Task 1

The students are asked to select a case study and submit a report (not less than 10 pages) to discuss construction contracts and contract management pertaining to obligations of various parties, contract administration, various contracts requirements and interrelationships between disciplines of construction. With referencing to the case study, the report must discuss and cover the following information:

- Comparison between Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) and the case study contract form according to obligations of various construction parties.
- Discuss the linkages and interrelationships between construction disciplines (Design, Construction and Maintenance).
- Contract administration by discussing the following sections of:
o Construction bonds,

o Delay's analysis,
o Construction variations, and
o Claims.

Assignment Task 2

Outback Contractors have won a fixed price contract to construct a new National Football Stadium (The works comprise; (1) Football stadium; (2) Leisure facilities; (3) Restaurants; (4) Concourse) with works commencing on 1 February 2015 and the Employer is to take over control of the site on 31 January 2016. Letters are sent during the contract from the Contractor to the Employers agent as in the following table.

With regard to your email of today we note that Section c of the site will not be provided to us at the beginning of next week as agreed as the current occupants (Traders) have not vacated the site.

Whilst we understand that problems have arisen owing to the occupants' unauthorized illegal actions and that you hope to have the matter resolved shortly, it will cause delay in relation to our programme and we will incur loss and  expense.

We shall revise our programme (as requested) and will endeavour to limit our loss.

You are required to do the following:
- Write a letter replying to the Extract of the letter of 14 March 2015
- In the report discuss the contractual reasoning behind your responses under JCT Standard Building Contract.

Report Format

- Number of pages: Maximum 15 pages including references list and the appendix (if any).
- Line spacing: Generally use 1.5 x line spacing.
- Start with the title page (including your name) or student number as requested.
- It is preferable to place figures within the text rather than group them at the end of the report.

Report Sections

The Report should contain the following sections:
- Abstract (Executive summary)
- Table of contents
- Introduction
- Report body
- Conclusions
- References

1. Abstract (maximum 1/2 page)

The abstract must be brief, but it has to tell the following:
- The main objective.
- Methodology (write about the main sections involved in the report).
- Short conclusion (one or two sentences are recommended).

2. Table of content
- Include heading, subheading, page numbers, list of figures and tables.

3. Introduction (maximum 2 pages)

The introduction is very important as it sets the context for the report. Summarize the brief and focus on its significance, state the report's aim (objective), and describe how the report is organized (methodology). It is not usual to detail findings or recommendations in the introduction.

4. Report body (maximum 12 pages)

The previous sections (abstract, table of contents, introduction) are preliminary sections. Case study's body section is organized as follows:
- The headings are informative and descriptive.
- Discuss the conceptual framework of the essay topic.
- Expound or elaborate the concept by presenting sub -topics relevant to the main topic.

5. Conclusions (maximum 1/2 page)

Every report should include a concluding statement/s on the subject of the report. Restate the aim of the report and state how you have achieved it. Present the main findings and key recommendations in a summarized. You should also restate the limitations of the report.

6. References

This is a list of all the sources of information you have referred to in the report (follow Harvard references format); minimum 10 references. All references listed at the references list should be provided in the text properly.

7. Appendix

Any additional figures, tables, and photos if required
