Pick one of the following topics to discuss:
1. Define Canada's population 25 years ago vs. today (i.e. Canada in about 1990 vs 2017). How are they different, how are they the same. How will the population change over the next 25 years and how will this affect the culture of Canada (what will Canada be in about 2045?).
2. Discuss the effect of technology on North American culture, referencing specific technologies and the changes resulting over the last 50 years (Think of technologies that developed since about 1980 and on). Based on your research of probable future developments, propose characteristics of North American society in 2040 (e.g. robotics, gene technology, artificial intelligence or other developments).
3. Define and discuss 4 key challenges our global society faces over the next 50 years and propose solutions we can apply today to meet these future challenges.
4. Define criminology and describe the causes of crime based on nature and nurture perspectives. Describe the role gender and culture play in crime and the criminal system. Who are more likely to commit crimes, and why are these people "at risk"? Is crime increasing or decreasing in Canada and suggest why this is occurring.
Use this as the structure for your paper (you do not need to use up your space with headings throughout your paper):
1. A Statement of the problems or issue
2. A brief history of the problem or issue and its causes.
3. The goals and interests in answering the question. Why is this issue important? What happens if we do nothing?
4. A final recommendation to Canada's policy makers. What does Canada need to do now?
