As the manager of an American company you have to negotiate a business deal with the representatives of a potential distributor in Uruguay. Intercultural skills are critical for a successful international experience so you consider collecting information regarding the local culture before your departure.
1. Select 2 dimensions detailed in Hofstede's framework to describe your assigned country. Provide country specific examples to support your answer.
2. Provide a recommendation on indicating how the Hofstede cultural characteristic you identified will positively or negatively impact the negotiation process.
More specifically, to complete this project:
1 Go to Hofstede's website and find the rating of the country on the six dimensions
· Discuss the country cultural characteristics. What can you say about the country's culture?
· Get the national culture profile for USA. Compare it with that of your country. Select two of the dimensions where your country's and the US cultures differ a lot.
2 Provide a recommendation on indicating how the Hofstede cultural characteristic you identified will positively or negatively impact the negotiation process.
