a. Metabolic syndrome is a growing issue in the United States. Much of this is attributed to a sedentary lifestyle and poor diet choices. Discuss the pharmacologic treatment of at least five physiologic changes due to metabolic syndrome. How do these treatments work and what are their risks and benefits?
b. Locate one scholarly article discussing the impact of genetics on at least one pharmaceutical treatment. Summarize the article and compare its recommendations to current practice.
c. Many well-intending patients keep their leftover medication, in case someone needs it in the future. There are a number of reasons why they may have leftover medication. Discuss some of the dangers involved in this practice and how a community or public health nurse can educate the public about these dangers.
