Assignment task: Susan is a lawyer by profession and she is also a pastor and a Justice of the Peace. She normally applies to the legal department for licenses to conduct marriages. She normally would have Mr Spencer another Justice of the Peace to sign her applications before submitting them to the legal department. Mr. Spencer at times would give her 3 or 4 pre-signed application forms in good faith, given her status as a lawyer, former police officer, pastor and a Justice of the Peace. She recently applied for licenses to marry three couples using the forms signed by Mr Spencer and the licenses were granted and the marriages were performed by her. The sons of Mr Spencer now claimed that their dad has been suffering from dementia for over a year now. The legal department contacted the police to investigate the matter and have lawyer Susan arrested and charged for forgery and fraud on the 3 counts. Discuss possible defenses that Susan might have.
