Problem:
Although some studies support a positive association between openness and grit, key gaps remain. A lot of the existing literature highlights all five of the Big Five traits, rather than openness only. Much of the research relies on cross-sectional, correlational designs (Katsarou & Chatzipanagiotou, 2025; Khodaverdian Dehkordi et al., 2021; Butz et al., 2018), which cannot establish association but do not clarify causation. It is unclear whether openness fosters grit, grit encourages openness-related behaviors, or both develop over time. There is limited evidence explaining whether openness directly facilitates grit development or whether this relationship depends on environmental, cultural, or other factors. Therefore, the identified gap suggests the need for further research on the contextual relationship between openness and grit, particularly using diverse populations and experimental designs. Understanding this relationship could inform interventions that enhance perseverance through curiosity-driven motivation and adaptive learning. Need Assignment Help?
