Discuss-play therapy seems to be very helpful with children

Problem: Write a reply to this post. Play therapy seems to be very helpful with children as compared to talk therapy for several reasons. Ray (2016) states that children learn how to think, feel, and behave socially in fairly predictable stages. When children are young they are still learning about their emotions and how to articulate them. Children's thought processes are more concrete and they may not have the vocabulary developed enough to explain how they feel. Expecting young children to work through their thought processes and feelings would be developmentally inappropriate through talk therapy. Play helps children naturally express their inner world, including their emotions and their thoughts (VanFleet et al., 2010). Children may not be able to explain what is wrong through their words, but they can show it through play using toys, imagination, and role-playing. This allows the therapist to better understand what the child is experiencing without forcing them to put everything into words. Play also supports children's development. Ray (2016) emphasizes that children learn best through experiences that match their developmental level. Through play, children can develop emotional regulation, problem-solving skills, and social understanding. In a therapeutic setting, this means that children are not only expressing their problems but also actively working through them while continuing to grow. Need Assignment Help?
