Discuss on the prison state video

Assignment Task: What kind of replies would be helpful for this:

The first main point I saw is that a prisoner said that being sent to prison didn't teach her a lesson. All it did was make her more mad, so when she gets out, she can repeat the same thing but with more anger. That makes me think about how there are a lot of prisoners that think this way. Maybe there is a better way instead of prison for some prisoners. Sometimes serving time really doesn't help someone, it just adds fuel to the fire. Another main point I found interesting is that some states, like Kentucky, cannot support prisoner population growth. Most non-violent criminals get to be released early to reduce over crowding. I feel like this is very dangerous, allowing criminals back on the street. I feel like they will not learn anything from their mistakes by getting out of their punishment. They may feel like they can repeat the crime because there is no consequence. The third main point I observed is that prisoners were saying that the prison system was meant to set prisoners up for failure. A lot of criminals get released with literally nothing. No house, food, money, just the clothes that they are wearing. If someone gets sent to prison for stealing, and then gets released with nothing, they are going to want to steal again to survive. Prison sometimes destroys lives permanently and makes it where prisoners are forced to be imprisoned again. I feel like there needs to be some sort of system that lets prisoners leave with what they need. These are three main points I picked from the "Prison State" video.
