Question: Our findings revealed that no negative priming occurred during the IS condition which is significant as this condition was used to mimic the dual language IR condition in Neumann et al. (1999), Experiment 2. Participants were able to extract semantic information via the prime distractor after using English-Spanish translations as their prime distractors and probe targets; whereas the original intention was to leverage the physical resemblance between the terms to produce a negative priming effect.
