Discuss involving work-energy and newtons second law

Assignment:

INSTRUCTIONS:

As usual in my dynamics classes, there will be three questions.

1. There will be a question involving work-energy and Newton's second law.

2. There will be a question involving impact and work-energy.

3. There will be a question involving the oblique central impact of two particles.

Problem 1

An object of mass m is attached to a linear elastic cord with unstretched length Lo and spring constant k. The cord is attached to the ground at A and it wraps around the semicylinder whose radius is R and that lies in the vertical plane. If the mass is released from rest at B, determine the angle Os at which the mass separates from the surface. Neglect the size of the mass and assume them is negligible friction between the mass and the semicylinder.

Problem 2

The sphere A is at rest when sphere B, which is moving to the left with speed vo, hits it. If the two spheres are identical and the coefficient of restitution for the collision is e. determine their velocities immediately after impact. Use sin(30°) = i and cos(30°) = 4. Neglect friction.

Problem 3

At the instant shown, collar A is sliding with con-stant speed vo in the direction shown on the semicir¬cular rod of radius R. If. at the instant shown, link BC is vertical, determine the angular velocities and angular accelerations of links AB and BC. Express your answers in the given component system. You do not need to, and should not, find any angles to solve this proble
