Jury Pty Limited is a small cafe based in Lygon St, Carlton. The owner of Juri Pty Limited is Dan Donvani. Dan has successfully run the business for the past 20 years. Dan accepts only cash from customers and requires customers to pay for their food before being served. Initially, this was a widespread practice in Lygon Street. However, due to the many cafes on Lygon St, Dan feels that increased competition. He has lost a handful of his regulars in the last six months. These regulars now again frequently visit chic cafes where credit cards are accepted, and customers pay after finishing the meal. Dan has decided that a substantial revamp of his café is necessary. Dan has decided to refurbish his café and create an atmosphere of a typical Italian eatery.
Customers arrive and order at the café to Dan so that Dan can maintain a good customer rapport; either pay for food items beforehand or after the customers have had their mail. Dan instructs the chefs on what to make, and he serves customers the food items. Once the customers have finished their meal, if they have not paid, they approach Dan, who acts as the cashier and pays for the food. Sometimes the customers leave cash for the food on the table and leave the café. The casual employees then take the money and pass it to Dan. The accounts assistant hired by Dan visits Juri Pty Limited every month and creates journal vouchers for similar items bought or provided by Juri. The accounts assistant then posts the relevant transactions into General Ledger. The accounts assistant also prepares a trial balance and other management reports that Dan requires.
