Assignment Problem: Contact a therapist who works at an outpatient or inpatient treatment center (or methadone clinic) or a family therapist (LMFT). Discuss family concerns that arise in therapy related to addiction. Ask how they address issues such as co-dependency, imbalanced family dynamics (e.g., maladaptive patterns of behavior), family court concerns, trauma, etc. Also, ask about their level of education/training related to family issues and addiction and how prepared they felt working with clients and their families. Do not use their full name, but do indicate where they work.
