Problem
Thinking about the potential medication assisted treatment (MAT) patient, what do you expect to find during screening (verbal/non-verbal), evaluation of laboratory tests, and physical assessment and how you would develop your working and differential diagnosis.
i. Discuss what you would expect to experience in each area of assessment, laboratory tests, and physical assessment in a patient with opioid use disorder (OUD)/substance use disorder (SUD).
ii. Discuss the criteria you would use to make an appropriate diagnosis of OUD/SUD and differential diagnoses across the lifespan.
iii. How does knowledge of biophysiological aspects of substance use disorder beneficial or not beneficial to substance use care.
iv. How is understanding the MAT beneficial and/or not beneficial to substance use care.
