Assignment GOAL: The purpose of this assignment is to discuss Canadian culture, values, and express awareness of social factors and influences in their own lives, in an objective and non-judgmental manner. INSTRUCTIONS: Write an essay that includes all these points: An introduction to your essay on culture that define the terms "culture" and "multiculturalism" in your own words Tell me about your own culture and your family Tell me about whether your family immigrated and talk about the cultural shocks when you came to Canada (the differences between cultures and traditions, the views of people here vs back home, the availability of cultural/ethnic food and other supplies, what is accepted and not accepted, were there changes to your ideas of culture or the way you/your family practice your cultural traditions?) What is the journey from diversity to globalization? (See Text pg. 45: From Diversity to Globalization) Talk about how globalization has affected culture and diversified people's abilities to modify or pick-and-choose their own culture.
