Problem: The patient was assaulted by an unknown assailant and had stab wounds (lacerations) with a knife to the chest and neck. Shortly after arrival in the ER, the patient's condition deteriorated with the development of acute respiratory distress. CT scan showed a left hemothorax, and a chest tube was inserted. Lacerations to the neck were superficial and were closed with sutures.
