You can focus on any combination of the primary topics voting, and campaign advertisements.
In your introduction, clearly state which of these topics you will be addressing and "preview" these main points in a thesis (Example: "To understand the relationships between the rules, behaviors, and outcomes of the American electoral system it is important to explore how political parties change, the role of swing states in the Electoral College, and how both of these influence voter participation"). Your thesis will help provide an organizational framework for the rest of your paper.
Don't just summarize campaign and election issues. The real focus of your paper is to demonstrate your understanding of key aspects of the
American electoral system in depth, explain why they are significant, consider relationships between these topics, and use specific examples to highlight why they matter.
