Did the united states live up to the ideal

Problem

When Woodrow Wilson intervened in Mexico, he intended to "teach the Mexicans to elect good men." When he brought the U.S. into WWI, he promised to "make the world safe for democracy." Assess U.S. foreign policy since in light of Wilson's early 20th-century pronouncements. Did the United States live up to this ideal when it committed its armed forces to battle in the 20th century? Be sure to consider WWI, WWII, and at least two other conflicts or interventions (such as Korea, Vietnam, Bosnia, the Gulf War, etc.) Avoid current conflicts-they aren't history...yet. [DON'T FORGET TO USE PRIMARY SOURCES AS EVIDENCE.]
