Develop a plan for monitoring the infants health

Assignment:

As a care provider working in the young infant room, you've gotten used to the challenges each child can present. Today, however, you are presented with a very different challenge. A young couple has enrolled their three-month-old daughter, Alissa. Alissa was born premature, and although healthy, she is smaller than others her age, needs to be fed more frequently, and is more sensitive to light and sound. Her parents are understandably concerned for her welfare and feel a mixture of guilt and anxiety.

Focus Assignment

1. Compile a list of the information you would need to know in order to create a care schedule for Alissa, and explain the importance of each. Devise a daily care schedule that addresses Alissa's feeding and care needs. Record the daily care procedures completed. Prepare a template for tracking Alissa's behavior, eating habits, etc., that could be used to provide Alissa's parents with a weekly report on her progress. Identify the specific indicators you would monitor.

2. Be sure to read the SELF-EVALUATION section below to guide your thinking. Write your self-evaluation after you have completed mapping out your plan.

Self-Evaluation

1. For each aspect of your plan:

a. Explain how this method addresses the issues in the scenario.

2. Describe and justify how your approach would improve teaching and learning in the scenario.
