Determine the attenuation for a narrowband signal centered

Assignment:

1. A coaxial cable of length d = 10 m has an attenuation of 5.3 dB/km at the frequency f1 = 1 MHz.

Determine the cable constant K (see (4.96)) and the attenuation for a narrowband signal centered at f0 = 20 MHz.

2. Consider a transmission line at temperature T = 315 K, with characteristic impedance Z0 and power attenuation (aCh)dB = 20dB, n cascade with an amplifier, having noise figure (FA)dB = 7 dB, power gain (gA)dB = (aCh)dB, and impedances Z1 = Z2 = Z 0 matched to the line. Determine:

a) The noise figure of: (1) the cascade line amplifier, (2) the cascade amplifier line.

b) The input signal power Ps,in required in the two cited cases to guarantee an SNR of 40 dB at the output of the system (assume the noise temperature of the source to be equal to the standard temperature T0 and the signal bandwidth B = 10 kHz).
