Purpose and Process:

Designing, implementing, and assessing organizational change can be a lengthy process. It certainly can span beyond the time allowed for this course. For the Change Influence Project, you will apply the principles of whole organization and process change interventions in analyzing a healthcare organization development project.

This HAT will involve research on your part. Identify an organizational change effort within the realm of healthcare. This can be any type of entity, including a current or previous employer. It may include a change project that succeeded, that had no impact, or that failed to accomplish its stated goals.

Using theories and concepts learned in this course, including stages of the change consulting process described in Anderson (2020), conduct a critical analysis of the change effort. What was the goal? How was it implemented? Did it succeed? Why or why not?

Your analysis should reflect the principles used to guide and interpret the change process and demonstrate understanding of course concepts relating to organizational change and organization development. Observations and actions associated with the project must be described in relation to terms and concepts found in the literature (shown by citations within the text of the report and presentation). All citations will have their related references included at the end of the report and on the last slide of the presentation.

You may conduct your analysis at the individual, group, or organizational level of a healthcare setting of your choice.

The report and presentation should include an introduction or description of the change influence process and context and a detailed description of each of the phases in the change process, including: (1) entry and contracting, (2) data gathering, (3) diagnosis, (4) feedback, (5) intervention, and (6) evaluation and exit. Complete the analysis with conclusions and recommendations in both the report and the accompanying presentation. Slide headings in the presentation and report headings in the paper will correspond to each of these highlighted categories.
