Situation
In a car manufacturing company, assembly line workers are unionized. Recently, due to differing views on issues to be discussed at an upcoming contract negotiation, tensions have risen between management and union representatives. The management representative has indicated that a lockout is possible. The union representative has indicated that a strike is possible. You have been called in to provide recommendations on how to resolve the conflict, trying avoid a lockout or a strike, if possible.

2. For each of the alternatives, describe why they would be effective in helping resolve the management-union conflict.
