Comment on whether you can relate to these experiences, and offer additional insight into the developmental stages discussed: I'm choosing age 15 because I remember that stage being pretty intense. According to Erikson, that's the identity vs. role confusion stage, where were all just trying to figure out who we are and where we fit in. When I think back to that age, I remember feeling that way. I remember trying out different friend groups, experimenting with my clothes, and even trying random hobbies just to see what felt right. From a cognitive perspective, Piaget says this age falls in the formal operational stage, which is when teens can think more abstractly and start to understand complex concepts like justice or morality. That clicked for me too, because it was around then I started thinking about things more deeply and from what seemed like in an "adult mindset", no longer just going with the flow, and worrying about simple, daily problems. Kohlberg's theory of moral development also applies, since teens usually move into conventional morality which is when being socially accepted matters a lot more. I can definitely relate, because most of my decisions at that age were based on the approval from friends and making sure I wasn't going against the grain. Overall, I'd say these theories make sense. Being in highschool felt like a constant balancing act between fighting for independence while trying to fit in but also wanting to be unique and be "myself".
