Problem:
There are many pros of having efficiency risk management but one of the biggest pros of it is identifying risk factors before they happen. When implementing risk management is a hospital setting Doctors and nurses have to not only act quickly but efficiently as a patient's life could be at risk. Implementing risk management in hospitals could prevent a lot of mistakes from occurring. Malpractice is a huge medical no-no as the patient could potentially sue the hospital for the mistakes that could have occurred during the time period, when implementing risk management, a lot of medical malpractice could be prevented because nurses and doctors could be more mindful of what they do in the hospital setting. Malpractice can impact a doctor so much by "doctors are either unwilling to practice or stop practicing altogether" ( Moskowitz,2022). I think medical malpractice should be prevented and if cases are happening since 1970 we not only need healthcare reform, but we also need efficient risk management in a hospital setting. " in healthcare risk management in healthcare can mean the difference between life and death which makes the stakes significantly higher" (Moskowitz,2022). Healthcare mistakes could be more costly because they can affect a patient's life. A story that I heard on the news with risk management is failure to obtain blood type "In 2003 it was the subject of national news when they performed a heart and lung transplant on 17-year-old Jesica Santilian without ever checking the blood type of the organ donors to see if they matched" (leighton).
