Describe one scene in a movie that you would consider

Problem

Longinus is a writer from the Hellenistic world whose writing was re-discovered in the Renaissance and was widly published in the late 17th century, when it began to have influence on artists and art theory.

The word roots of sublime means "up to the threshold", up to the limits of human experience- perhaps the final encounter with death, perhaps an encounter with the divine or other extraordinary experiences. Any situation which exposes the human condition at it limits- like climbing Mount Everest- is sublime. Not only is such an experience intense, but it is seen as elevating the human spirit to be something greater than ordinary.

Read my Powerpoint on Longinus and the Sublime. Cite one work of art which is sublime on this definition, and explain why. You are not limited to examples in the powerpoint, but if you bring in a new example you need to describe it.

Describe one scene in a movie that you would consider sublime on Longinus' definition. (for me several scenes in the movie Interstellar would count- there are bizarre spectacular vista of alien shores and humanity (the main character ) it out there at the limits of what humans have experienced.

Central to Longinus definition is the idea that art is mean to lift the human spirit to a higher plane of existence. Elevation and expansion of mind and soul is the goal.
