This issue is especially relevant in light of Project 2025, a conservative policy agenda that proposes significant cuts to federal social services and shifts responsibilities to state and local governments. According to the Mandate for Leadership, there is a stronger push for reduced federal involvement in welfare and healthcare programs, which could directly impact already vulnerable populations. If enacted, these policies could limit access to critical services, further marginalizing groups that are already struggling to gain public and financial support (Heritage Foundation, 2024).
As human services professionals, we must consider how shifting political agendas like Project 2025 could affect service delivery, funding, and advocacy for these populations. Without broad public and governmental support, it becomes increasingly difficult to develop programs that meet the complex needs of underserved communities.
