Four examples of change in the workplace are listed below. Select one of these examples and respond to the following question:
• Describe how you would apply one change competency and related behaviours to this example as noted in the Developing and Sustaining Leadership BPG by (RNAO, 2006).
Four Examples of Change
1. The hemodialysis unit is outgrowing its space and the wait list has been growing steadily. Approval has been given to double the number of dialysis stations.
2. The nurses on the unit have proposed to implement self-scheduling to increase job satisfaction by better meeting the needs of the diverse group of nurses. The manager is in agreement and has given the authority to this group of nurses to lead the initiative.
3. A pipe has exploded on another unit causing significant damage to the residents' rooms including the equipment room. All the residents must be moved to other units across the facility until repairs can be made.
4. Your choice - describe an example of a recent change at your workplace, e.g., move to electronic documentation, increased skill expectations as RPNs will be working to full scope, etc.
