La Nina - Note: This DF was created during the latter part of 2020 and applicable through spring of 2021. For future reference, during another year, when there is a documented La Nina event, this forum could be utilized.
Perhaps you have heard about El Nino (ENSO) events. Have you ever heard of La Nina events? About 4 months ago, climate scientists confirmed that we are in the midst of a strong La Nina event whose effects can be experienced through February, 2021. For this discussion forum, address the questions below. I am including a link to the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) web page here, which explains a bit about La Nina and its effects across the United States.
A. Contrast the basic conditions of the Pacific Ocean, and what basically causes these conditions, that leads to El Nino and La Nina events.
B. What are the basic effects this La Nina event have caused/will cause across the United States (address each region of the U.S. that will be affected) and how may those effects positively or negatively affect those regions.
C. Describe examples of the effects already experienced in some of these regions and how did La Nina likely exacerbate them?
