Assignment task: Edgar Schein, a noted organizational theorist, described coercive persuasion as a situation in which people cannot physically escape and are pressured into adopting new beliefs.

Consider the emergence of the electronic medical record (EMR) and its impact on caregiver behavior and the use of paper. Giving up or at least minimizing the printing of reports and using of notebooks in favor of the electronic devices is a significant challenge for all caregivers.

Removing printers and the supply of paper is an example of coercive persuasion. What other examples have occurred in your organization?
