1) What did Berle and Means (1932)1 mean by the phrase the "modern public corporation"?
2) What are its distinguishing characteristics? How is the "modern public corporation" different from older forms of corporations? Give at least one example as part of your answer.
3) Find at least one scholarly theory that claims to refute or change at least one theory or conclusion reached by Berle and Means (1932). Describe that alternative theory. Do you agree with the conclusions reached by that theory? If so why? If not, why not?
4) Describe at least three modern examples or applications of the theories of Berle and Means (1932) and/or the other scholarly theory you identify immediately above.
5) Do you still find Berle and Means's (1932) take on the modern public corporation to be convincing? Does it need refinement? Or should scholars abandon that perspective in favor of other perspectives? Pick a side in the matter and explain your position.
